Recently the NPR program StateImpact Ohio published the article “Some Ohio Schools Say Computers Don’t Belong in Classrooms.”
The highlight of the piece was by parent Amy Hecky:
“It’s just the right tool at the right time,” she says.“In these first 12 or 13 years of their life it’s not what’s best for them.” She says students don’t need to be taught how to use computers. They’re machines built to be intuitive, after all.
No one is thinking technology can be or should be “defeated”. Like Amy, I believe a child using technology comes down to the right time, not all the time.
